Website Design process in 4 easy steps

Step 1. Planning your website

Before you get a quote have a think about:

• What you want to achieve from the website?
  
• How much you want to invest?
  
• What products/services or information do you want to promote online?
  
• What is the geographical area you wish to reach?
  
• Who is your target audience?
  
• How many pages do you think you need?
• What is your preffered domain name ie: www.mycompany.co.uk

Step 2. Content & Design

Copy/text: The words (copy) on your pages are one of the most important elements for producing a sucesseful website and online copy is very different to copy that is written for a printed brochure. Keywords and keyword density have to be taken into account along with consice sales driven text.
Llewellyn design can provide all the copy for your website in house.

Images: A picture can say a thousand words. Professional engaging images play an important part in instilling confidence and keeping the viewer on your website. Llewellyn design can source images (stock photography) or supply photography to make sure your products and services are promoted in the best way.

Design/concept /layout: A design of the overall look and feel of the website will be created. This can include Logo design and branding if required. Screen shots will be emailed to you and it is at this stage that unlimited alterations can be made to the design until you are happy and ready to sign off and ready to build.

Step 3. Build and Publish

During the build the site will be put on a internal server and a link will be emailed to you so you can view it as it is being created. At the end of the build the code will be optimised including meta tags, alt tags and optimised page titles. Once you are happy to sign off the website it is then published to a hosting server of your choice. Web hosting and email can be provided and this will be discussed from the start.

Will Google and other major search engines find my site?
Once the site is published to the web a (sitemap.xml) will be submitted to Google. Within a week the website will start to show up under the researched keywords and phrases. I will also setup and install Google Analytics on the website so it can be carefully monitored by yourselves to analyise it's performance, number visits and keywords used to find your website.


Step 4. Marketing your new website

Within a week of publishing your website will start to show up on the major search engines. If you have plenty of online competition you will probably find your site is far down the pages on desired searches. This is where internet marketing and search engine optimisation (SEO) begins.
This can involve may elements including:

• Generating backlinks to your site
• Creating your company pages on Socail Media sites like Facebook and Twitter
  
• Writing articles and posting on subject related blogg sites
  
• Creating additional pages with fresh content on a regular basis to target
  keywords and phrases

If you are not Page 1 on Google for your keysearch phrases then it is unlikely you will see any return on your investment.
